Job description

Your Team Responsibilities

MSCI is seeking a Vice President to lead day-to-day product management for ESG Ratings from our Budapest office. The role sits in the Sustainability & Climate product team at MSCI, a leading provider of sustainability and climate solutions to institutional investors, financial institutions and corporate issuers globally.

You will work with product managers, Client Coverage teams, Research & Development, Data Operations and Engineering, and with clients and prospects around the world. You will be the product expert the business relies on, and you will help shape how the product evolves and how we use agentic technology to deliver it.

Your Key Responsibilities

You will own day-to-day product management for ESG Ratings and act as the team's product expert for clients, prospects and internal stakeholders.

ESG Ratings & Sustainability Data product management

- Own the day-to-day management of ESG Ratings, setting priorities, managing the backlog and making trade-offs with senior product managers.

- Track operating metrics for ESG Ratings, including client usage, adoption and retention, and report on them to senior management.

- Coordinate across Product, Research & Development, Data Operations, Engineering and Sales to deliver the enhancement roadmap and build a better client experience.

Client Coverage and commercial support

- Work closely with Client Coverage teams to support sales, renewals and retention.

- Answer coverage questions on features, functionality, pricing and licensing, and develop and maintain user guides, pitchbooks, factsheets and FAQs.

- Provide product expertise in client and prospect meetings, present the product roadmap, and gather structured feedback from clients.

- Help organise regular training sessions so coverage teams can position ESG Ratings & Sustainability Data solutions confidently.

Product development and launches

- Compile business cases, revenue estimates and ROI analysis for new initiatives, and write product scoping documents and requirements.

- Lead product launch activities, including coordinating changes to applications, data feeds and Salesforce, testing new features, and managing client communications.

- Identify service improvements, cost reductions and pricing and profitability opportunities.

Building agentic solutions for clients

A growing part of the role is helping MSCI build agentic solutions that let clients use ESG Ratings data and insights inside their own AI workflows.

- Shape enhancements to our Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers and tools so clients' AI agents can access ESG Ratings data reliably.

- Define requirements for new agent solutions with engineering, data and research teams, and set the measures of success.

- Test agent workflows against real client use cases and feed the results back into the roadmap.

- Work with Coverage teams to explain agentic capabilities to clients and gather their feedback.

- Track developments in agentic AI and bring practical proposals to senior management.

Your skills and experience that will help you excel

We are looking for a commercially minded product leader with a financial or sustainable investing background and a track record of working with external clients.

- Education: a degree in a technical field such as finance, economics or business administration, or equivalent experience.

- Experience: product management experience, ideally in financial services or sustainable investing, including taking a product from concept to launch. Front-office exposure, such as portfolio management or credit and equity research, is helpful.

- Technical and agentic: hands-on familiarity with data products, APIs or AI tooling (for example MCP or LLM-based agents) is a strong advantage.

- Organisational: a strong record of delivering high-quality work on time, with the ability to manage several projects at once and to write clear requirements and documentation at short notice.

- Communication: the confidence to present to senior leaders and clients, and the people skills to build strong relationships across functions.

- Analytical: strong analytical capability and a genuine interest in new technologies and analytical tools.

- Initiative: a creative, proactive approach to problem solving and a drive to keep learning.
