The Quality Control Supervisor is responsible for managing the daily quality control operations, ensuring that all products meet internal and regulatory quality standards. This role oversees the QC team, ensuring effective sampling, testing, and analysis, while driving continuous quality improvement initiatives. - Salary Scale 004: $73,000 to $91,200 (Base salary will be determined according to your academic background, experience, training, and position‑related competencies.)
Your role in achieving results:

- Supervise Quality Control Technicians and ensure the proper execution of analyses and inspections of raw materials, work-in-process, and finished products.
- Oversee daily sampling and testing activities to ensure compliance with the plant quality plan, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), HACCP requirements, and the food safety plan.
- Manage quality control documentation, including Certificates of Analysis (COAs), analytical reports, calibration records, and reports generated from electronic systems.
- Contribute to root cause investigations and ensure follow-up on corrective and preventive actions within the area of responsibility for non-conforming products or laboratory-related processes.
- Ensure the maintenance of the preventive maintenance and replacement program for laboratory equipment, as well as compliance with laboratory safety standards.
- Participate in internal and external audits and contribute to site audit readiness to ensure compliance with regulatory and customer requirements.
- Train and coach Quality Control staff to ensure proficiency in testing protocols, quality procedures, and food safety standards.
- Provide feedback on testing capabilities based on specification requirements and the development of new products and processes.
- Collaborate with Production teams to resolve quality-related issues and improve product consistency and food safety.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and quality control trends, including laboratory efficiency, product performance, and testing accuracy.
- Act as a resource for quality control activities during customer, regulatory, and third-party audits, according to assigned responsibilities.
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to quality control.
- Promote continuous quality improvement by analyzing trends and contributing to the implementation of improvements to quality processes.
- Maintain close communication with Procurement to ensure adequate laboratory supplies and the availability of required materials and equipment.
- Provide the management team with feedback and reports on quality performance, technical efficiency, and cost-reduction opportunities.
What we are looking for to deliver these results:
- College diploma or university degree in Food Science and Technology, Microbiology, Chemistry, or another relevant field.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in quality control, laboratory operations, or quality assurance within the food industry.
- Previous experience managing a team required, ideally in a unionized manufacturing environment.
- Good knowledge of food safety and quality standards and programs, including HACCP and CFIA requirements.
- Knowledge of sanitation activities, including cleaning programs, CIP systems, and pre-operational inspections, considered an asset.
- Proficiency with Excel; knowledge of SAP considered an asset.
- Knowledge of dairy processing considered an asset.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in French and English. (English is required to work with colleagues in other Canadian provinces.)
